Some time ago, I had the privilege of photographing the superb music group Mat se dio Ifesis and a bit later the fabulous singer/composer Marinos Karvelas. Mat se dio ifesis have just finished recording their first wonderful album, and Marinos was looking for musicians to help him record his second album. Marinos collaborated with Mat se dio Ifesis and the poet Dimitris Angelis (who wrote lyrics for some songs and was the executive producer) and  the album that came out “Stis Parifes tou ouranou” was a masterpiece. It really was one of the rare moments in recent times that music and lyrics, orchestration and production were combined uniquely and created a record that was among the best of the last 20 years.  Unfortunately  few people took  notice at the time of release, but the ones they did, some of them well known singers,  offered Marinos the chance to compose for them and their personal records.

Meanwhile,  Mat se dio ifesis recorded 2 more great albums with success and for the time being they are at an indefinite hiatus as a group, while all members are involved in personal projects, recording personal albums and playing live with other musicians.

They deserve your attention and time.

Here are some of their songs:

This one is for Y, she knows why.  http://priorhouse.wordpress.com/

  1. Thanks to translating software – I came up with this…..

    υου rock…

    or

    υου αρε ωονδερφυλ
    or
    Είστε ο άνθρωπος

    or all three????

    *smile*

    • No, no , it doesn’t work this way! But you are on to something with the last one! Although it sounds more like what Pontius Pilate said about Christ! 😉 Since you rock is an idiom, and so you’re the man, our slang has some, but unfortunately I am no expert in Greek slang. So the closer to the third one would be Δικέ μου, (my man-as heard in the blaxpotation movies) but I think it is dated.
