One of the few music bands that stood the test of time and still make great music. Belle and Sebastian
From their visit in Greece in 2002. They were programmed to play in an open theater but they brought the rain with them and we ended up seeing them in a big gym hall, at Goudi. It was a joyous concert, I knew all their songs by heart and I was one of the oldest people in there (still in my twenties! ) I had the fun of my life (one of my top 5 concerts)
They are still active, actually Stuart Murdoch has recorded a wonderful album some years ago, under the name God help the girl, directed a film with the same name, (God help the girl), Steve Jackson has issued a delightful solo album that makes my daughters dance (this is the highest praise, I tell you they are very strict judges) and most of them are very busy with music side-projects too many to mention. Unfortunately from the original band three members have departed. Isobel Campbell, who has been very prolific and has issued about a dozen great albums (alone, as The Gentle Waves, with Bill Wells and with Mark Lanegan), Stuart David who has issued some inspiring music as Looper and lately Mike Cooke who I had the chance to meet and photograph in Athens during the “Dear Catastrophe Waitress” promo interviews.
Give them a try, they won’t let you down!
