Goodbye Lou Reed

Goodbye Lou Reed

Sometime ago I was discussing with friends, how hard and painfuly weird it would be to see the artists whose art was a part of our growing up, leave this world. Lou Reed was one of them. Describing very accurately the american metropolitan nightmare, through his lyrics, with music that was always ahead of its time and as bleak as his lyrics, he somehow spoke to me. Many things have been written about him. I can only say that I admired him more, when some 13 years ago during his Ecstasy tour he played in Athens. His refusal to play any of his old songs, was met with some bottle throwing, which didn’t put him off, like he was expecting it. He was a gift to the people of this world.
