Have I posted this one before? Can’t remember. Sorry if I have
i don’t remember it but i think i would. so i guess you haven’t posted it yet 😉
Thank you for letting me know. The last couple of weeks have been very stressing and I had very limited time, so posting was done hurriedly.
When I was in Athens I stayed at a hotel by Omonia sq. and used to catch the subway right there.
It is the center of the city and as such it has seen so many changes over the years that photos are the only witnesses of how it used to be. Hope you caught it in a nice phase. 😉
It was a couple of months after the Olympic games, so it was a good phase, I guess 😉
Yeap, it was OK I guess. Omonia sq. was ready for use just days before and totally different from what it used to look before 2004. But still no good as a square, totally without anything shady to protect you from the harsh Athenian summer sun, and therefore completely empty of people.
I didn’t stay in Athens too long, but I loved the place. But I found strange that people were asking me where I was going after Athens.
🙂 I was so sick of the whole situation that I didn’t stay in Athens during the Olympics. It is the city I grew up, live and work, and if you know where to look, there are hidden treasures of places. And I think it is a city best seen after summer and certainly, like you did, after the Olympics. Any photos from back then?
I only took a crappy digital camera, and took only the typical photos. I’d love to return and see more of Athens and the country.
Let me know when you plan! 😉
Interesting shot – everyone is looking in a different direction.
Thank you! I think that is why I like this photo, too.
i did some research by omonia sq the one time i was in greece!! this photo reminds me of edward hopper…
I am flattered, because I love Hopper’s work! 😉
